About Me:

I've been a nature girl for as long as I can remember. My husband said I had to have been born in a field of wild flowers haha. I've been taught the natural way is the best way since I was 4. My best friend's mom was a massage therapist (still is) and very involved in natural remedies with diet, herbs, and essential oils. Every time I got sick, she'd have me take some vitamins, drop some concoction under my tongue, & mix some herbs in my juice. I was sick constantly and the routine rubbed off on my mom soon enough. I didn't start living in a completely oily world until around the age of 6 when my parents got very involved in the business of Nikken magnets. From there, it progressed into Young Living Essential Oils. Anytime we got a scrape, bug bite, burn or something that looked just a little out of the norm you'd here my mom yell, "Put some Lavender on it," or "Put some tea tree on it." Those were her two all-purpose oils of choice.

Growing up in Oklahoma, out in the country, springtime reeked havoc on my respiratory system. Having allergies so bad every spring and cough attacks every winter, eucalyptus became my best friend. Our book shelves were filled with information about natural healing and on any occasion you'd find my mother curled up on the couch or on the porch if it was a nice day, drinking green tea, reading and memorizing uses for what it seemed like, every plant on the earth. She was constantly filling our heads with useful information and our mouths with organic food before it was the trend. You could say I was a granola baby before it was cool ;)

I am so grateful she educated us on the lifestyle of healthy living instead of convenient pills that have a list of side effects that about give you a heart attack just reading them, never mind taking them. I am 26 now and the first time I ever had antibiotics in my system was at 23, when I got my wisdom teeth taken out. I hated taking them then and I don't plan on having to do it again. Thanks to the Lord and the healing/preventative qualities of essential oils I've never been to the doctor!  I've seen some incredible things healed and restored with prayer and essential oils: my brother's major brain injury by getting hit by a car on his bicycle,  my dad's brown recluse spider bite (known as a fiddle back in the OK), mumps, numerous respiratory and sinus infections, ear infections, cancer, burns, and that's not even the half of it! The list goes on and on. When people say, "There's an oil for that!," believe it, because there truly is.

After growing up with EOs, my brother and his family,  my sister, and I are all continuing the tradition of using, educating, and promoting them. I have now introduced my modern medicine loving husband to the bright side of life. He's really getting into it too now that he's been using and researching essential oils for a bit. Score!

This blog is simply to tell stories and equip other eager learners with facts and testimonies about the power of God's creation he gave us for healthy, long-lasting lives. Hopefully through this blog, you too will enjoy This Oily Life!

God Bless,
